Sudip Bandyopadhyay is a prominent personality in the financial world. He is a renowned financial expert who endeavors to change the way people choose and use financial services in this country.
Sudip is a qualified CA and a Cost Accountant. Sudip has over 22 years of rich & diverse experience in various areas of financial services. He has worked with reputed organizations like Reliance (ADA Group), ITC, ICI and HLL.
Sudip is now heading the Global financial services vertical of B.K.Modi promoted Spice Finance as Group President – Global Financial Services. Sudip’s mandate is to explore multiple options to enter the high growth financial services verticals namely Broking & Distribution, Asset Management, Micro Finance etc.
In addition to forming the the Distressed Asset Group scouting for appropriate opportunities, Sudip has now taken the first step in the vast arena of financial services by acquiring majority stake in Wall Street Finance Ltd, a listed company engaged in the Money Transfer & Money Changing business. Wall Street Finance Ltd is a Principal Agent of Western Union in India. To bring in synergy with the Spice brand, Wall Street Finance Ltd is being rechristened as Spice Money.
Currently, Wall Street Finance Ltd has a Pan-India presence with 61 branches & 3400 agent locations with manpower strength of about 500 employees. Prior to joining Spice, Sudip was the Managing Director of Reliance Money and was also on the Board of several Reliance ADAG Group Companies since May 2005.
He is a distinguished financial expert & under his leadership, Reliance Money had aggressively expanded its footprint in India and across the globe. Sudip was also instrumental in leading Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group’s foray, amongst others, into Equity & Commodity Broking, Financial Products Distribution, Commodity Exchanges, Gold Coin Retailing, Money Changing and Money Transfer. Sudip was also responsible for the acquisition of AMP Sanmar through which Reliance launched its Life Insurance business.
During Sudip’s 17 years stint with ITC as head of Treasury and Strategic Investments, he managed investments in excess of Rs.4000 crores. He was responsible for the acquisition of strategic stakes in EIH, VST and several other companies by ITC.
Sudip strongly believes in empowering masses for making smart decisions related to investments, savings and spending through ‘Financial Literacy Programmes’. With this objective, he has taken various initiatives towards creating investment awareness and opportunities for the various segments of the population namely Money Yatra, Smart Investor, Our Money forums , Ask money forum ,Sainik Investor and Pehla Kadam .
For his praiseworthy work in the financial services sector, he is aptly called as” Money Guru”.
